CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE
The Federazione Siciliana del New Jersey, is pleased to announce its Annual Dinner Dance, on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at The Venetian, 546 River Drive, Garfield (NJ). Cocktail begins at 4:00 P.M., followed by dinner and dancing. This year, the Federazione will honor the following organizations: the Ribera Club; San Ciro Society; Scoglitti Club; San Giuseppe Santa Croce Camerina Society; San Anthony Society; Sicilian Citizen Club of Bayonne; Italian American Forum of Lodi; Associazione Italiana Ieri Oggi Domani; Societa` Unita of Union City; Federazione Pugliesi del NJ. These organizations demonstrate a long commitment to promote relations between Sicily and the State of New Jersey, and have a continued dedication to giving back to the community.
“We have honored outstanding individuals in the past,” says Franco Amato, Chairman of the event, “including entrepreneurs, politicians and humanitarians. But this year we thought it was important to focus on the organizations, on those volunteers that we know work hard all year to support the community, to create scholarships, raising funds for sick children…. These organizations are made up of so many diligent and dedicated individuals who band together for the common good. It was time to celebrate our synergy and our legacy, rather than a specific individual.”
As usual, all the proceeds from the benefit will be used in the community. Last year was one of the most successful in the Federation’s history. They were able to donate substantial resources to The Tomorrow Children Fund, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Italian Education & Cultural Center, La Scuola d’Italia G. Marconi Foundation, Italian American Committee on Education as well as high school and academic scholarships.
The Federazione Siciliana is a non-profit organization based in Bergen County, which promotes relations between the Region of Sicily and the State of New Jersey, and fosters the exchange of cultural, commercial and entrepreneurial interactions between the two countries. Tickets and sponsorship available. For information about joining the Federazione and about this event, please contact 201 796 4300.
