How the Federazione Siciliana del New Jersey
was established
In 1994, after the dissolution of the Business Association of New Jersey, Mr. Marco Cangialosi and other Sicilian friends felt the need to create and formalize an organization dedicated to the Sicilian community in New Jersey They were driven to create this organization by their pride in their origins, and by a passion for sharing who they were.
In 1996 the organization was formally recognized by the Vice Consulate of Italy in Newark as a non-profit organization and, also in 1996, as a 501©3 non-profit organization by the State of New Jersey. After many years of activity, during which it distinguished itself for the quality of its programs and its commitment to keeping alive the connection with the Sicilian region, the Federation is willing to intensify its presence in the Sicilian and Italian communities with scholarships, sporting activities for children, cultural exchanges, especially between Sicilian and NJ universities, and more. |
